Jee, it is so tempting to get the "little" VR lens.
Birddog: do NOT send the lens to me, I repeat do NOT send the lens.
Thank you again so much for making available to us these great toys
at great price.

Regards
CD

Nup... I have promised the Missus: No more lenses until I finish my PhD or make money from photos...

But I telll you, at that price, shortly after one of those two happens I will be buying the VR as a walk around lens :)

Congrats Woody, with Mr Poon's great service you will probably have it before you get around to borrow the 50mm. I think the 24-120 is a great range and a bargain entry to the VR club

Hey MHD
If it gets you in on a technicality, I will gladly buy a photo from you, any photo for say $10, unless of course you have specified how much money you have to make before you can get another lens. :)

Christiand, will try your technique "Birddy, do not send me a 200-400VR, do not send me a 200-400VR". Will let you know if it works

hmhhh .. I hope it works !

This is unfair !
Really, there are so many temptations !
Gee I have to constrain myself.
And Mr Birddog is not making it any easier.
And the thing is: what you resist persists !
What a challenge.

Cheers

Well done Woody - I am in a pickle - can’t decide on the 24-120VR or the wide angle 12-24mm. The way I see it the 24-120 would be a good replacement for the kit lens (so sell it) - 12-24 covers the low end and then just the 70-300VR to cover the lot. Got the 105 macro already. . . :(

Cheers

Chris

Now you see where I'm going.

50 1.4
24-120VR
80-400VR

Next on my list is the 12-24.

hehehe you sound like one well versed in domestic politics...

That is excatly what I was thinking. I have enjoyed the kit lens but I always seem to be searching for that little extra zoom.

Now I have it and VR to boot :)

I think the next purchase would be the 50mm or 85mm for portraits.

Cheers,

W00DY

Then I feel very proud to be sitting on an MHD original (Birddog gave me an A4 print of your challenge 1 image).

I will hang it with pride on my wall untill you become famous and then sell it :)

If you're heading down the commercial path MHD, share your experiences with us - I too would like to start looking into the possibility of making dough from this, for justifying this expensive hobby and perhaps avoiding getting a "real" job, but have been too lazy to investigate the how's and the what's.

Enjoy your entry to the VR club Woody. :)

I use my 105 macro for portrait shots - good sharp lens and it works for me.
