use this program and it works well, especially with batches of images

Although depending on what gallery software you use, you can do it for free.

I believe gallery 2 has watermark ability. although I havent tried it.

I even use a signature brush in photoshop to do it also.

Yes Gallery and Gallery 2 is able to add a water mark to the images.
