Playing around with the remote - a question

Hi all,
Been playing around with the remote for the D70 (ML-L3) today and noticed that when I'm in Appeture priority mode if I use the remote the camera doesn't autofocus. I've never really needed to use the remote much before and I'm sure there's something I'm doing/not doing that prevents the camera from autofocusing when in A mode. Can anyone shed any light? I have a feeling there is a simple solution but had to ask the question... :?

There are a couple of reasons why AF might not be working with the remote:
- The lens is set to manual focus
- The camera is set to manual focus
- The camera is set to AF-C mode

If you change from A mode to S mode and the camera AF kicks in there is something seriously screwy going on ;).

The remote is a wonderful gadget and this is how it works in relation to autofocus....if you pre-autofocus the camera with the shutter button then the remote will not change the focus when it takes the picture. If you don't pre-autofocus then the remote will carry out an autofocus before firing the shutter. There may be other reasons why the remote will not focus the lens...such as having the lens set to manual etc.

It's my pleasure :D :D :D :D :D

Thanks guys - I think it's the AF-C mode - I am yet to try this but it certainly isn't anything else. Appreciate your advice! :D
