Nikon 12 - 24 mm f/4,
Tokina 12 - 24 mm f/4,
Sigma 10 - 20 mm f/4 - 5.6 and
Tamron 11 - 18 mm f/4.5 - 5.6.

Interesting but the Sigma is the widest and takes a standard CPL filter so is easily the least expensive option.

I think Ken's real message is that the Canon 10-22 is better than even his favourite Nikon 12-24.

I like his comment about the coating on Sigma lenses. I have a very new 70-200 sigma and that silly coating gets scratched so easily that it astounds me why Sigma would use it. Its like a velvet kind of matt finish.

I like what Ken has to say because he always has humourous and subtle undertones which leave most of the boring reviews for dead.

I really like some of his insights, although as we all know, he's often bashed for his "reviews" of products, aside from that, I think he's quite knowledgable.

I think I'll still be getting the Sigma 10-20 (first Stigma glass...) as it can use regular sized filters from everything I've read. I also don't think the variable f/4-5.6 is an issue as I'll be mainly using it stopped down a bit.

Yeah. What bites me is that I *have* a Canon DSLR, but I also shelled out for the Sigma 12-24 before the Canon came out because the lack of wide was bugging me. A lot. Sure, the Sigma is FF but it has all the problems of their 10-20 and it's even heavier. Arrrgh!

What the Sigma does do is let me take reasonable photos, and if I get really ratty with the lack of wideness I can borrow a 1Ds and get the full benefit (I take photos inside sometimes so this can be useful). When I'm tempted to sell the Sigma and buy the EF-s I just stare at the price of the 5D for a while and think about how the 20D price changed over the 12 months it was available.
