I feel that this superstar lineup union will be a very strong force, although I'm not sure if people will be comfortable with it initially though.

I fear for Nikon, hopefully they have something up their sleeves. COUGHfujifilmCOUGH

What are your thoughts?

D3x. ?

I can see that extra *serious* competition, should be good news for the consumer, it should drive the prices lower, and hopefully speeds up the R&D cycle so we get bigger better improvements. However there is the chance that the bigger company's afraid of losing market share could make silly but costly mistakes. For instance we've seen what I'd consider to be a dramatic decrease in the Quality control within the Nikon line up.
If there gear continues to be rushed to market, and not properly test, it will hurt them in the long run.

If I was a consumer right now looking for my first DSLR, reliability and quality of the product would rate highly (not just features) in choseing a camera / brand.

Man, its late and I'm talking rubbish, I gotta finish this work project so I can get some sleep.

I still think Nikon offers a more "genuis" approach to their products than Canon though.

And I really hope the go with fujifilm take out the Canon.

Don't expect them to take up too much of the market. There'll still be plenty for Nikon and Canon.
