S-B600 Flash Distances

Postby wmaburnett on Mon Mar 13, 2006 12:44 pm

on the USA Nikon Site it says:
Flash shooting distance range (in TTL auto flash mode): 0.6m ti 20m (2 to 65.6 ft.) (varies depending on the ISO sensitivity, zoom-head position and lens aperture in use)

How do i calculate this, i will be doing an outdoor photoshoot with my 80-200 2.8 ED D and want to know how far it will reach at aperture 2.8
Thanks!

William,

The LCD on your flash should tell you the effective distance if you shoot in TTL or BLTTL mode (or AA), when your flash head is at 90 deg. If you shoot in manual mode, there are tables provided in your flash manual.

william also make sure you determine weather you want to shoot with the difusser dome onthe flash head or not
when the diffuser dome is on the zoom function on the flash does not work effectively decreasing maximum range

Does the SB600 come with the diffuser dome?

Thanks! Mine didnt come with a diffuser dome but mine is the US version might be different.... wish it did i might buy the stoffen one though , but i cut out peices of cardboard from a pizza box and bent them and colored different ones for di fferent effects and use them as a bounce card :-) it seems to be working well.
