70-200 vr

Postby atencati on Fri Dec 24, 2004 1:09 pm

Well, my initiation is complete, I have just joined the VR club at a much higher leve than anticipated. I thought my wife was upgrading my Sigma 80-400 OS o the nikkor, but she came home with the 70-200 2.8 VR instead!

That's great! New VR's member, you have to be good so you'll get a 200-400VR or 300 VR next Xmas, send Santa your wish list of Xmas 06.
You'll be proud and enjoy your new toy.

She bought you this for a present?

Well, atencati, can I suggest:

Please ask your wife to write a GIFT GIVER'S MANUAL. Many wives I know do not understand the basics of Christmas gift selection for their partners.

This would be an enormous social benefit to the photographic community in general, and in particular, to the members of this forum.

Enjoy your gift :D

Thanks all, I do feel lucky to have such a great wife. Funny thing is, I put the camera in her hands last night and had her take a few shots of our dog running around (He's her baby - more spoiled than I am) and she was blown away by how clear and bright the shots are that she wants to start budgeting to buy some more lenses. And no FREAKIN" way I am goiing to let a 70-200 VR sit in my house and wait 2 days to use it. That thing lasted about 2 seconds in the box.

wow.....that is one terribly crazy long run-on sentence up there...my appologies

Did you have trouble taking pictures around the house with the focal length. I find that even with the 50mm, I'm having to back up way more than I like. I'm seriously eyeing the 12-24. That would set me up nicely for a while.

Congrats on the lens by the way. This would only happen in my dreams, although I wouldn't put it past my wife to do something like this as well. Look forward to seeing the pictures.

atencati,

Seeing that you have your wife on-side now, what lens or lenses are you going to budget for :?: . Also while your wife is in this frame of mind, you will need a new tripod, ballhead, RRS LCP-10 foot for the 70-200VR and SB-800.

When I received my 70-200VR from Poon, HK per FedEx I think I had it out of the box in one second, quicker than a speeding bullet.

Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year.

fozzie's on the ball - tripods and other camera support items aren't cheap, and they're a "very necessary" part of shooting now that you have that oh so long and oh so heavy 70-200VR. ;)

I had my wife sit at the kitchentable, sort of modified tripod/handheld and the dog was in the family room shredding the "present" she got him. Funny thing is, he is so big he is already hard to frame.

As for next on the list...hmmm....D2X! (Yeah Right!!!!!!!!!)

First thing I'd like is a 2x tele, and maybe a fisheye...10.5 dx? haven't decided yet.

Please have my word: go for the 1.4 or 1.7. You'll suffer with the 2.0. I have all three of them and the 2.0 is in my display box.
hmmmmmm, oh yeah! a D2x for me too. Please count me in.
