How many lives do you want today?

Or even a better name might be "What in the bloody hell is my life number today?"

I'm actually curious about something a new member energypolice has said.

He said the following in a thread I'm mostly ignoringbecause of how irritating the thread is, however, I can't ignore the following statement and now I'm actually curious about it:

energypolice wrote:I am a man of a few words, and this post is about my seventh life-time and my communicating skills are not good, but let me try to explain myself by using practical experiences.

Ok. Now excuse me for being ignorant, but what exactly do you mean by "seventh life-time"?

Is this the seventh time you've been alive?

Last I heard, cats were the only species rumoured to go beyond that normal "one-life" rule we mortals seem to have adopted, and while I'm not anxious to throw my Vivaldi out of a window several times to see if he can match your "seventh life-time," I'm actually quite curious as to how a person could believe that this is their seventh life-time on the planet Earth.

This isn't as much as a slag at you, energypolice at all, as I'm really quite curious as to how someone can believe that this is indeed their seventh life-time and how you would have proof regarding that.

You also proclaim in another post that you are indeed a saint.

energypolice wrote:The image is the correct one, and I am a Christian saint who obey the Words in the King James Holy Bible.

How do you get to be a saint?

Do you get a promotion at work and aside for the pay rise, become a saint?

Last I remember from my studies in art, it wasn't something you could just say about yourself, but rather had to be ordained after much good work had been done at your hands and recognised by someone with much religious power... usually long after you had died.

I'm not only quite curious as to how you're alive a seventh time, and if that's actually what that means, but how you can claim you're a saint if you're still actually alive.

As an Athiest and a Distorted Jew, I have some pretty odd ideas on life myself that are mostly there for comedic purposes, but I still welcome other religious beliefs quite warmly unless people attempt to force them on me, in which case I react quite logically and usually argue them down.

In this instance, I'm actually quite curious as to how this works and, not wanting you to feel offended nor to engage in a ridiculous religion face off pulling in the ID people too who always seem to want to have a say, I want to know how this works as opposed to just ignoring the comment and going "yeahh... righhhtt..." and ignoring it the way I normally would.

I read it more mundanely, that this was the seventh time he has ever posted to a forum. Still, putting the Shirley McLaine twist on it is interesting.

All I can say.. as an "Athiest" ... Religion is the mother of all evils..

Show me a war that doesnt have some religious basis.. show me a life that hasnt been affected or insulted by religion... If we all Gave up religion... the world could possibly be a better place... We'd insult the people then, not the religion.. especially now with this war and terror... you insult a muslim.. you insult all the muslims, you insult a man, you have done just that.. insulted a man... not something to start a war over

Watching a movie a long time ago.. guy said
"God is a make believe friend for Adults!"

Saints are sinners too.. documented in history.. goes to show everyone has a bad side..

Tim
p.s Sorry i went off topic there

p.p.s They always said.. the Devil was the greatest deceiver and lier.. they reckon in history.. the bible wasnt written till about 80yrs after Jesus was nailed up.. If the devil was such a great deceiver, who says he didnt write the bible to make you a false believer?

Hey Nnnnsic,

I can't clear up the seven life thing (sorry) You'll have to wait for the energypolice dude for that.

But I can clear up the saint thing....You see the institution that is Catholicism has tainted peoples perception of "Christianity" beyond repair. It has added rules and regulations and traditions that are completely un-biblical and often contrary to biblical truth.

Sainthood in the Cotholic system I guess is like the footballers hall of fame if you compare Catholicism with footy. The guys who have excelled at their discipline so to speak. (Sorry I could go on...and on....and on.... :)

True biblical sainthood is inclusive of every person on this planet who has recognised Jesus as the son of God (litrally) and taken Him as Lord of their life...realising that he is not dead but risen sitting at the right hand of His Father (even though they are one)....try and get your head around that :?

1 Corinthians 1:2
To the church of God....to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints....who call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord

So according to the Bible (and this is only one verse....but there are many others referring to "the saints") all people who claim Jesus as their Lord are saints.

But in energypolices case...I find it strange that he calls himself a saint yet keeps the Law of the Sabbath. To have Jesus as your Lord means to let go of the Law of the Jews (Old Testament Law) because he died to release us from it. I think perhaps he is a Seventh Day Adventist whom tend to keep the Sabbath which is completely unnecessary.....but is cool I guess as long as they don't force those rules upon others and condemn people for not keeping the Sabath.

Anyway maybe that has cleared the the "saint" thing up for you.

That's how I read it too.

Haven't we already done the religious debate in a previous thread?

Hey Zeeke,

About 2/3rds of the Bible was written many years before Jesus was born...like 1500-700 years before he was born. But I'm sure you were referring to the New Testament and just used the term bible generally :) But the majority of the New Testament was written before 70 AD. Which means that most of it was written in 37 years of his death.

Also....I don't know if you were joking about Satan being the author....but The authorship of the NT books and letters are all historically accurate except perhaps the letter to the Hebrew's which historians have had trouble identifying the author.

Don't misunderstand me....I'm not trying to have a go....but you have to be careful making sweeping statements like that if you aren't able to back them up with solid evidence.

Distorted Jew

Most people don't understand what a Distorted Jew is, and rightfully so seeing as that I'm the only one I've ever heard of self-proclaiming himself as one.

We're the type of Jew with "distorted" beliefs.

For instance, I'm an Athiest Jew that believes in Santa Claus but thinks he rides around on a menorah shaped sleigh with 8 waxy reindeer that have been set on fire with one at the front who's glowing red from how hot he actually is. Santa, rides around yelling "Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Chanukaristmas!"

Make sense?

And yeah Thaddeus, we've gone down the religious route several times before, but since I have an opinion I feel like I have a right to post a thread which may or may not start a debate and still may or may not answer several questions on what can deem a person to several lives and to stating that they're a saint.

Katweazl, that's an odd way of calling someone a saint. I do believe that if what you're saying is true, the Catholics may have well and truly fucked up any sense at all of what should traditionally been have considered a "saint" similarly to the way Catholics have made sexual protection the "withdrawl" method.

Glen,

Been there, done that.

It didn't help at all.

I did see that Michael's wife is thanked for being a virtuous woman, but apart from that, nothing made a whole lot of sense to me. Paticular the multple choice question regarding what the current year might be.

Well, that's not quite true. I did understand the bit at the very top of the page, just below the heading line.

Look guys, far be it from me to sound holier than thou here, but while I may not agree with Michael's views I question whether we really need to have a thread that singles HIS views out for comment. Personally I'd be hard pressed to see a need for anyone here to start up a thread with another forum member's comments or actions as the subject of the thread. To me that's not being consistent with the fact that this forum is very much an INCLUSIVE place. Hell we even have Canon people

I'm not singling out his views.

I was curious about a couple of concepts he introduced in his conversations and wanted to know more.
