Hi there,

Totally off topic here but...

Best of luck to all those people up in Far North Queensland who are undergoing Cyclone Larry right now.

My parents and sister live up there and they just called me. They are fine but it sounds crazy. The eye of the storm just passed over them and so far there has been no major damage yet. However there are no trees left on the property and things aren't looking good right now.

So good luck to any DLSRuser members and other residents who are up there. My thoughts are with you all.

Paul

Thanks guys. Lots of howling wind trees down no power(thank goodness for my Honda eu10i) fridge, lights and computers going. Innisfail copt worse of it. Big trees down in our creek and neighbour across road with tree landing on their house. Otherwise all's well
cheers

Wouldn't mind seeing some photos of all the carnage! However its understandable if photography isn't on the top of peoples priorities when houses are getting blown away :)

Best of luck to everyone who is facing this storm.

marco - which suburb are you in?

My parents were in Brisbane for the weekend and couldn't get back... rellies secured the house so it should be fine, though. Being in Cairns they should be OK - further south would have been a bit hairier. It will take a while to hear back from the extended family scattered about the area...

Am also curious how the beaches fared re erosion - particularly Yorkey's?

Am watching out on the ABC news website for info - I guess it's going to be a little while till many images come out, as most have better things to do (and no power!!)

Ok my thoughts are with those members up that way as we have seen it on the news here and looks like it could have been a lot worse, luckily no one was killed so hope all is well.

Rae I live in Smithfield a suburb in the Northern beaches of Cairns. I think all things being equal Yorkey's did OK.
BBJ you're right it certainly could have been a lot worse. For many though it was!! Quite a few lost their houses and from accounts I don't think Kentucky fried chicken exists in Innisfail anymore. One of my wife's employees was looking after a boat of a friend living at Yungaburra on the tablealnds south of Cairns and he rang to see howe he was faring and asked how is your hoouse, his reply was what house! Gone!
We'll all get by as long as this other cyclone off the coast coming this way decides to change its mind. A second one would really be a bummer :(
cheers
