Can anyone comment on following.

I have just got a copy of this but before I load onto my computer I want to know if it auto launches a program that retrieves shots from my D70 when it gets connected.

I have this feature in Elements 3.

Also would there be any program conflicts if I leave Elemets 3 on the computer.

Hi Barry
I cannot comment as I always transfer images via a card reader, however I would think that if it does open up a file transfer window, you can probably turn that setting off, or choose another program to always open up NEF/JPEG images (from your OS).

What is your reasoning for wanting to keep both Elements and CS2 on your PC ? Once you get used to CS2, I'm sure you won't want Elements

Just want to run both programs until I get familiar with CS2.

On Macs I've had Elements 2, PS8 (CS), and PS9 (CS2) all installed on the machine at the same time, and they can even all be running at the same time. Mind you on my current machine I've only got CS2 as I'm no longer writing training materials for the older ones, but it works.
I'm pretty sure the same thing will apply with a Windows installation.

CS2 doesn't have a downloading function that I'm aware of, but then it's an image editor rather than an image _organiser_, which is where that function belongs (whether you use a card reader or direct-download).

I would recommend you look at downloading software such as Downloader Pro from Breeze Systems.

generally adobe stuff tends to coexist.
for example on this PC I run photoshop 7, cs and cs2
(mainly for supporting various clients running each version)
they all are happy together.
As an added bonus I just have 7 running in srgb and cs and cs2 are argb.
7 starts quicker if I just want to edit a web image or something.
I have to admit that cs doesnt get much of a run these days though.

I dont believe cs2 installs any camera autodownloader stuff, at least it hasnt on the few machines I have configured with cs2

Just occurred to me re the auto-downloader that's on your current installation: are you sure this is part of Elements? Or is it Nikon software that happens to invoke Elements?

Thanks for your comments everyone.

Dave B, I'm not at my home computer at the moment but I think it would be Elements 3. The only other sofreware I have is on computer is Nikon Picture Perfect that came with camera.

do not know how you are setup, but have you got PSE3 setup as your default program to open images when you download the images using Nikon Picture Perfect

in the preferences.......of Nikon Picture Perfect, I think
