Hi, Hope someone out there can help, It seems a friends camera card has contracted a virus (Downloaded from my computer) they do not have a comp. How is the best way to get rid of it? Will reformatting the card do? There are no photos on it at the moment! Nikon D70s with compact flash card!

How do you know the card has contracted a virus and, even if it has, why would it be a big deal?

The idea behind using cards is to empty the card on to a PSD or computer and then format it inside the camera and move on.

You normally have to format the CF card after transfer to PSD or computer before the next use.
So viruses will be gone after that format. BTW, Pls. visit the FAQ and update your location accordingly.

Are you sure it has a virus??

If I leave my CF card in the card reader when I shut down, Nortons comes up with a box saying that it may leave the pc open to viruses ect..

Its not saying there is one , just warning not to leave it in..

In any case, nothing that a vigorous in-camera formatting can't fix with ex-treme prejudice.
