I'm now on the waiting list

Postby Zeeke on Sat Apr 01, 2006 9:51 pm

Went and visited my local Camera House to say G'day to Dug.. but i probably left it too late or he wasnt working..and to check on when my Sigma 10-20 was coming in as im heading to curtis island off gladstone on friday for a week or 2.. and plan on lugging all my photo gear up there so i can capture some of the awesome sunrises and sunsets over the beaches and headlands there..

Anyways... while i was walking past the Nikon Display case (Walked directly to.. so i can drool) there was a D200 sitting there so proudly... i asked if i may look  and i was... but not allowed to put a battery in or try.. as it was owned by someone else.. they were only given permission to show off.. Well... im now number 7 on the list waiting for a d200 to come in... gonna be an agonising wait!!!

Tim, have you checked with Birdy for a price comparison?

The prices for the d200 seem pretty much level really .. even when your looking at grey market stuff.. so i decided not to bother Birdy...

Tim,

Make sure that when D200 stock finally comes in that it is new stock since there have been some original-release models floating around. These haven't been tested for banding or problems with battery draining too fast. All the new stock will have had these checks/repairs.

I've been waiting for 3+ months for my D200, so don't hold you breath!

Cheers

Which is exactly why I suggested Birdy as he has actually refused delivery on original release stock and will only accept units that have received proper QC checks.

I think ill be waiting a while.. and the chance of it being original stock is slim to none id say... but i think the wait will be worth while

I'm not keen on putting pressure on Dug to do a better deal for me when it comes to camera gear... even if iam helping him to support his addiction.. ive put a deposit on it.. so that my name would be on the list..

Ill be squeezing in fishing gear.. thats the main reason for heading north. but i'll be planning a few extra early mornings with the camera gear

Don't worry the markup on high end gear is minimal.

We are selling the D50 at $50 below cost I love offering to do deals for people when they ask for discounts.

I take them aside and tell them if they don't complain or mention it to anyone I will sell to them for cost price.

Their (Greedy little ) eyes light up and they are real happy till I add the $50 to the price they already had.

Just out of interest Dug, but what is the ratio of D50, D70s and D200 sold at your store?
