Hi all, :D

I have just realised a 18 year obsession when I finally bought a Nikon DSLR outfit in January.

I have enjoyed my photography for many a year and my old Minolta 600si 'classic' never let me down but when the time came to switch to a DSLR I knew this was my best chance to go Nikon. 8)

[Edit]

Oops, sorry for the pic size, I will resize and repost.

Thanks guys,

I registered on here when I found this site as it looked by far the most informative I'd seen... But I've just noticed a lot of the post are from Australian members.

Is the forum OZ based???

Hi D70s, yes the forum is oz based but we have members from all over the world.

I just noticed your nice image, it wasn't there when I first replied. The reason for that is we try to keep images under 800 pixels on there longest dimension and under 200K (preferably around 100k) for reasonable download times.

Your image was a bit big, so didn't download in reasonable time. It is 690 x 1053 and a whopping 381kb

We're Oz based, but we don't discriminate.

Nit even against Poms. :)

So welcome, and enjoy.

In fact, one of members should have just landed back in Londin within the last few hours, after returning home to the UK after living in Melbourne for a number of years.

Daryl, wtf are ya?

Care to show this new member the ropes?

:)

Took this photo taken outside Australia House, London... This is the Ambassadors car (should it not be a Holden?)

Welcome John
My family and I will be arriving in London late May for a short holiday. Looking forward to seeing what seems to be a great place, many photo ops I expect.

Hi John and welcome. There's a few Brits on the forum (although most of us live here in Aus), and we even have our token Welshman.

Well, I am very impressed so far with what I have seen.

My location (London) should only be a problem when some local expressions are used but we have (more than) a few Aussie's over here I can ask for translations.

Let the adventure begin....

is the guard outside buckingham palace?

Going to be in London on the 16th may for a week, whirlwind tour.

Bloody hotels are expensive and the exchange rates are killing me.
Paris for 3 weeks is cheaper than london for a week.

Hi obzelite,

The Life Guard in the photo is standing outside Horse Guards in Whitehall. they alternate with the Blues and Royals (Blue tunics, black helmet plumes and chin strap below chin)

I am lucky that I work in the heart of London so get to see all the 'sights' in my lunch hour.

As for prices... That's the cost of not joining the Euro for you. Hope you have a good trip, will see what I can do about the weather. PS... mind out for the riots in Paris.
