Photo Sharing Sites

Postby W00DY on Thu Aug 19, 2004 9:23 pm

Does any body know of any free photo hosting sites?

I know of all the ones you have to pay for (PBase, fotki etc...) but was hoping there was some free ones available :D

Anyway if there are none I guess I will pay...

Cheers,

Woody, I have just tried a crummy one with a 150k limit per photo called Bravenet. Really designed as website hosting they also have a photo album option. No one will steal your photos or sign you up from this site but useful to give others an idea. I have used it more as a place to park certain shots eg a dpreview reader wanted to see what a 70-210 with 6t close up filter looked like so this gave him an idea.

My spot is http://www.glenfromsydney.bravehost.com/
this will give you an idea, but I am sure someone will have a better solution. At least it is free till you find the right solution.

I have decided to go with SmugMug :)

They seem quite good and is only about $38.00 per year (with some limitations).

I will try and get signed up in a few days as I want some advice on Black & White conversions.

The one I'm with - fotopic.net, is completely free. No max image sizes, no traffic limits, direct outside links okay, no annoying pop ups or sneaky stuff. Customisable just about everything...

Too late :)

I signed up with Smugmug on a 7 day trial and then only about $35.00 p/y (which I'm happy with).

They have a really good layout and seem pretty reliable. You can have a look at a few images I have uploaded tonight by cliking on the link in my signature.
