hey guys,

when I hold the d70 in my hand and turn it to the right or left as tho I am going to take a vertical photo I can hear something small moving from side to side as I move it.

Admitedly, it's not very loud (as whatever is moving is quite small I guess), but I can hear it...

I am just wondering if that is normal?

(Oh and no, my camera has never been dropped, banged etc.. - I am just wondering)

This was something that came up time and again on that other forum. Many have suggested that it may be the sensor for camera position. ie landscape or portrait. The information that this sensor provides is used for the autorotate feature in camera and in NV. I cannot hear it in mine, but apparently it is not uncommon to be able to hear it.

I concur. I believe it is a mercury or gravity switch that lets the software know the camera has been turned.

Well I hope no-one was looking in the window then...
Nope no noise from mine, but I agree it may be the sensor. Perhaps a technical question for Nikon?
Did you try it without a lens?
I had my 70-300 and teleconverter on the camera and got a prominent clicking, took the teleconverter out of the equation and no noise. BTW Serious zoom, that!
