1 Day to go

Postby Zeeke on Thu Apr 06, 2006 6:43 pm

Till im gone..

I'm heading north for a week or so.. camping at Curtis Island near Cape Capricorn.. which is just south of Keppel Island.. mainly going for fishing, but ill be planning on doing a bit of photography, last time I went i only had the basics.. a kit lens and Dug's 80-200.. this time i'll be taking my kit lens, 50mm 1.4, 90mm tamron and 70-200 and borrowing Dug's 10-20 because mine wont show up for another week :( also bought another d70 battery for my trip.. and hopefully ill be able to live with just 6gig of memory card space.. probably devote one card to fishing photos.. and the other 2 just for landscapes and scenery.. plan on catching the sunrises and sunsets over the water.. so taking tripod and monopods.. Should be a fun week.. i hope... going to be hard packing all my gear into 2 bags and a black box..

Ahh well.. things ya gotta do to get a good photo

Tim

This is one of the scenes at Cape Capricorn.. its the railway track to the lighthouse where they have cabins you can stay in.. its right on the top of the island and has cliff sides on 3 sides of the hill.. straight drops into the water or beaches bellow.. but awesome views.. the track is 270 meters long and goes on an angle of around 45 degrees... and the track has been there for 80yrs... its.. FUN.. you can see pit marks all over the track from where its been hit by lightning the cart is about 1.5m wide by 2 meters long.. and is pulled up and down by a very old diesel engine with a big drum on it fitted with steel cable..

Tim my sweet,
Have a brilliant trip!!!! I'm soooo jealous ;) Hope you catch heaps of fish, fantastic sunrises and sunsets, and some of that famous rum that you make ;)
Have a safe one, and can't wait to see the shots and catch up.
