A worrying site...

This site looks a little bit dodgy http://www.everystockphoto.com/

They seem to be leeching images from various sites - just flickr and a couple of others at the moment - and presenting them as free stock photos...

There are warnings about intellectual property in their terms and conditions, but they seem to be mainly presenting images as being covered by a creative commons license...

They've probably covered the legal angles on this.

If you use Flickr as your image hosting site, then you might like to check if your images appear here and how they are being presented.

I suppose it's not a lot different from Google Images apart from the fact that they are presenting them as "free images"...

Hi John,

That's what I see as well, and in the license it quotes:

Creative Commons Deed wrote:You are free:

* to copy, distribute, display, and perform the work
* to make derivative works
* to make commercial use of the work

Under the following conditions:
BY: Attribution. You must attribute the work in the manner specified by the author or licensor.
* For any reuse or distribution, you must make clear to others the license terms of this work.
* Any of these conditions can be waived if you get permission from the copyright holder.

Probably right there if they stick to images covered by Creative Commons

Copyright certainly is not easy :? :?

Yeah... Having had a look at it a little more, it seems that they are only picking up images that are flagged as Creative Commons...
I wonder what they will do if they come to index Smugmug as (to my knowledge) it has no way of marking your images in this way...

As long as the photos are willingly published in this way - it's not a problem I guess...
