Who inspires you?

Been wanting to ask this for a while - who inspires you with their photography? There are shots that I see that make me think, shots that make me gasp, and shots that I just want to be able to take (oneday, when I grow up ), but there are 'photographers' that inspire me, with their vision, execution and presentation.

Who inspires me? Stephen Dalton - wildlife photographer from the UK who was the first to get a shot of the Jesus lizard walking across water, and was one of the pioneers of infra-red photography in the UK. He used to have a website, but now has all of his photos on nhpa

There is an article about him here: http://magazine.audubon.org/dalton.html

So, who inspires you?????

Others have probably already heard of him, but I only came across this the other day. Thought it was just incredible stuff.

The picture of the young Afghan girl is amazing .Those eyes . I read a story a year or so back about how they went looking for her twenty years later and found her . I didn't look through the whole gallery but im guessing those pictures are there as well .

As far as inspiration goes motosport shooter Andrew Wheeler . His stuff is great .http://www.automotophoto.com/

Probably Edward Weston the most, but so many, Robert Mappelthorpe, Imogene Cunningham, Olive Cotton, Tim Page,
Robert Cappa, Frank Hurley, Max Duipan.

The list goes on and on. I have a library of photo books at home to call on I find it an essential resource.

You have to know the history of photography to see where it is going.

(Margo's books have words in them, mine have pictures ;-)

Narelle,

Great post topic.

In Australia, I absolutely love Dave Watts, Pavel German, Raoul Slater, Glen Threlfo (my mentor when I started 9 years ago), Jiri Lochman.

In case you guys don't know them, they are Australia's premier wildlife photographers

Cheers

Michael

In my field there are a few names that really do inspire me but none have websites so its not really worth mentioning there names.

Outside of what I do I would have to say its the world in all of its awesomeness that actually gives me the inspiration to shoot. The sole provider of every great image we see.

WOW, I didn't know I could go that deep?
