G'day all,
Da boys have just left, much fun and frivolity seemed had by those that came for a play... Hard to type after a few reds!!!!

Anyway, just had to post a few shots... That 50/1.8... hubba hubba, that and the 24-120VR are the next toys, maybe the SB800???? Doh!!! Bloody toys...

Anyway, had fun, talked loads of rubbish once we'd had the few inevitable reds... And so long as we don't tell anyone shhhhhhh, we'll stir-up Ajax for his efforts with the toothpicks ;-)

Anyway, few guys had fun, played with a few toys... This is a great forum with a great bunch of people! For those that couldn't make it, nar nar, ne nar nar... :-)

No PP, other than minor sharpening, indoor shots with a pissed photographer :-) No picking on the shots!

Cheers all,
Mudder

Mudder,

Great stuff, and well done. Glad to see that you were finally able to get a few guys together and have some fun.

I'm trying to organise the first LA chapter meet tomorrow.

G'daty Matt,
Yep, you got it in one! Once the reds have gone down, anything's good fun... I'd already had a couple fo reds before they got there, so I was struggling from the start! Hence the less than average pics... Ahhh well, was fun and got to meet some of the guys and that's the main aim :-)

Wow, the 50/1.8 and SB800... Them's next :-)

Cheers,
Mudder

G'day Birdy,
I don't think any of us would have been brave enough to tackle that after a few reds, but we talked about it though!

And yes, that D70 camera strap looks the goods... Rats, I'll add that to the list :-)

I can see the bankcard's gonna take a hiding when I go to Syd-a-knee...

Cheers,
Mudder

Mudder,

Sorry I missed your name on the bottom of the shot.

I had an eye test back in August. Maybe I should try and get my money back. Wait, it may be the result of the bottle of red wine I consumed yesterday - oops.

Cheers,

It was a great day as everyone has already said.. lots of chatting, testing out new equipment and wishing we hadn't..

My contribution was just my new backpack ( Crumper "Brian's Hot Tub" ).. but regretably I got to test out the 50mm 1.8 and the 80-400VR, both of which I had been interested in beforehand and definately want now.. especially the 80-400VR... damnit...

Platinumweaver, Ajax and Mudder.

Thanks to mudder for his excellent hospitality, including a few very nice reds!

It was great to play with mudder's 80-400VR, and to check out PW's Crumpler Brian's HotTub. We had the SB600 and SB800 to try out, and more.

Don't worry Matt, no attempt was made to go anywhere near the CCDs in the "meet condition"

Ajax had some fine advice on good Indian restaurants amd cooking supplies. Will be trying them out.

A most enjoyable afternoon for the inaugural Melbourne meet.

A big well done to mudder for making it happen.

Looks like Amsterdam Mariner premium lager to me. :) Great to see the love/lust spreading over Aus!

Killa, as correctly identified by MCWB, the strange beer is Amsterdam.

It has two very favourable qualities....

1. It is a very nice drop

2. The very good people at Dan Murphy (all hail the Dan) were giving 2 dozen Amsterdams away with every dozen bottles of Hanwood wine. Hanwood just happens to be the wine we buy for day to day essential household drinking cos its is cheap and very acceptable. So, we went to Dan's to pick up a dozen or two Hanwoods, ended up with three dozen (1 each Cab Sav, Shiraz and Merlot) for around $85 per doz (yes, it is damn cheap) and six dozen Amsterdams for free. Boy was I happy!
