Well.. what a thrilling week ive had.. left for Curtis Island near Gladstone on friday the 7th with 3 friends.. a landrover and a boat ... cruising was good till we got just north of Miriam Vale.. the feeder pipe on the radiator blew off.. so we had water and steam everywhere and mass of overheating.. pulled over.. i did the roadside assist and got them to run the car without the radiator cap off... radiator started frothing up white foam after 15mins of running.. which means blown head gasket or worse... so we topped up the water.. and crawled the rest of the way to Gladstone which was only 30kms away... car died at the boatramp.. so we organised for it to be towed into secure parking
Headed up to Yellowpatch which is near Cape Capricorn on Curtis Island.. setup camp and crashed for the night.. next day we decided to head east and get into some fishing..conditions turned from bad to worse.. we got 2 fish up before pulling the pin and heading for home.. problem is, we were 20kms offshore in serious bad weather.. and our gps died.. so we didnt know which way was home, spent 2hrs driving along hoping we were going in the right direction to land.. we luckily did.. and didnt see land till we were about 2kms offshore.. .
So from then on we spent our time fishing in the creeks and catching feeds of BIG mud crabs... and having them for lunch and dinner everynight.. During the week we organised one of the fellas parents to drive up with there car to tow the boat home and get us home.. hit the road on sunday around 7pm.. .. 70kms south of Gladstone we decided to turn into Miriam Vale for some drinks for the trip.. and the car we were in blew its rear main oil seal in the automatic transmission.. so thats were we stayed... lucky the servo we pulled up at had cabins and we caught a few Zzz's ..
Got to the train station at 9am.. got refused seats on a train at 9:30am.. so we had to book a bus ticket.. Bus didnt arrive till 9:15pm... so 2 of the fellas decided to stay in Miriam Vale and sort the boat/car issues out while 3 of us decided to bus it home... spent from 10am till 8:30pm in Miriam Vale Pub... not good when i dont drink.. and got on the bus... arrived back on the Sunshine Coast/Nambour at 5am this morning.....
What a shattering week.. lol.... but thats camping for you..
took a few pics... i'll wack some up later today
