was shooting during the weekend, noticed that a pic i shot wasn't able to zoom in during the image review screen.
initailly thought that was weird until i scrolled past it and wasn't able to look at it again with a "no image data present" message. I checked the file on the computer, it was an empty file 0Kb.
has this happen to anyone else before?

No, hasn't happened to me before.
Is it possbile that you haven't formatted your CF card for a while?

I get something similar every now and again... When attempting to view the image receive "image does not contain image data" or something similar... When I transferred the file to the PC it was a many Gigabyte image... Huh??? Now when I see that happen I just delete the image and then away I go but I have lost shots I wanted to keep due to it... Couldn't even delete the image from my storage device, ended up having to format it, doh... That might have been due to the strange filename...
With several different cards (tried abotu 4 different cards) I occasionally get CHA error, then I have to take the card out and re-insert and then it's OK again but I sometimes lost all the images taken in that session so it can be very frustrating, just haven't got around to sending for service and being without the cam for X weeks while it gets fixed... And that's assuming it happens while the camera is with them... Intermittent problems are a bugger for a tech to diagnose...
Oh, I always format the card in the camera before each use too...
