[BNE] Need to Borrow A Lense! NIKON

Hey.

Alright,
Next Monday (most likely) I'm going to see the Musical Production Rent (again) at the Schonell theatre, however I have now found out that you are allowed to take photos!

I don't particularly have the money to go renting lenses from the place I was last told about, so I'm wondering if any DSLRUsers dudes/dudettes would be kind enough to lend me a lense or two for the night.

Because it's a theater, something that isn't excessively noisey(As in, the AF) would be a plus. Also, i'm not after anything too big. I've only got a 50/1.8 and my 18-70, so something a bit longer would do alot of wonders. Something around 120 would be fantastic, maybe even a 85/1.8.

If anyone is able to lend something to me or can help out in anyway, add me to msn nicknav@vortsekz.info

Cheers guys.

Vort,

You will probably find you have one of the few lenses suitable yourself, the closest fast Nikon is the 135 2.8 DC, which is a very rare lens on this board (off the top of my head I can only think of one). Your useful lenses will probably be 50 1.8, 50 1.4, 85 1.8, 85 1.4 or 180 2.8 (exluding a $3k 70-200 zoom and I still would pick an 85 or 50)

Good luck

Yeah I realise its a long shot :)

I know my 50 will be ok, but an 85/1.8(4) would be really good if anyone had one to lend.

Vort, probably your best chance in future is to go to a few meets and make yourself known. It is a reasonable ask for someone to lend a lens which is worth between $650 to $1750 to someone they don't even know the name of (I assume your real name is not Vort, but your posts are are unsigned). It is much easier if people have met you and know something about you

Anyway, I'm off to Ferrariusers.com to try and borrow a 430

Vort I have no problem with lending my gear to other forum members whom I have met a few times. Unfortunately I have not had the pleasure of meeting you yet. Perhaps we can rectify that at one of our fairly frequent meets?

 Further to my comments in another thread regarding the words 'ugliest' and 'Aston Martin' being used in the same sentence, I think you are in serious danger of violating my sensibilities again here, Glen! I can only take so much sarcasm in one day and, having spent most of the morning with Blacknstormy, I'm ALL FULL UP thank you!!

Simon, dead right, old but not crappy  One of the greatest Ferraris ever.

Redline, spot on, I forgot about that, the manual 105 1.8, probably as rare as the 135. Redline, that was a kid sitting on the ledge fishing, taken with my Ixus 2mp P&S :D

Glen

The Glass guide tell me that you can trade in a 250 GTO for a 1996 Hyundai Excel. The good news is you get airconditioning with the Hyundai.

Andrew, for any model Excel, I could probably get you a ticket to look at a real GTO. Think they have dropped to about US$6M these days, I remember back in the nineties when syndicates were paying over US$10m, there was a japanese syndicate which did its arse well north of that figure. Serves them right, cars are for having fun with and for people who like them, not instead of a bank account

The scary thing about the 250 GTO was the 6 double Weber Carb  and 8) at the same time.

Andrew, I have great faith someone like you could tune those by ear

Vort, sorry for taking your thread about borrowing a car, sorry lens, off topic, at least you have a few more replies now :D
