Hi all its been a long time since i have posted, but I do lurk in the background and have a good read now and then.
The D70 has passed on, taking a dive to the pavement after i lost my footing on the top step at home (13 steps in total) all I could do is watch as it flew through the air to the bottom and landed on the lense (18-70 nikon).
It smashed the filter into millions popped out the first lense and cracked the second, almost cracked the lense in two. The body broke round the mount and another impact point on the rear cracked the casing more. It did turn on top screen worked but no menu.
Luckly it was insured now I play the wating game and see what they can do for me.
Keep up the good work on a great site..

lkgrainger,
Sorry to hear your misfortune, hope you'll get the replacement soon and back ontrack.
Is it a hard and stress test for Nikon gear?

Leigh = was wondering what had happened to you
(Tend to remember the people who live around you ). Insurance is indeed a wonderful thing - can't wait to see the images from the new camera !

Bugger. That is indeed unfortunate. Well we'll keep our fingers crossed that you get a replacement sooner rather than later.

And no I did not toss it down the stairs! I love my D70 to much to think of it, I shed a tear or two when it fell to the ground (maybe thinking of what the wife was going to say).
Where have I been? Some months back I bought a 4x4 and between that and work photography took a back seat for a while, I have fortunate to be contacted by a racing webmaster who wanted me to take some pics for his site to help promote him as well as myself, I get media passes to events that I wish to attend so its cool.
I will have to get back into it though, starting to miss it.

Leigh,
I know the feeling. Dropped the D70 myself 2 months ago. The lens was fine (which was the good news as it was the 80~200 f2.
but as it rolled over the SB800 cracked the hot shoe off and the casing had a slight crack on the top. mmmmmmm Maxwells, 3 week wait and $500.00 later all was good again.

I'm curious Leigh...
are you and the D70, or it's replacement, back in the land of the living yet? If so, come along to our Hunt & Shoot on Aug 12! It'd be good to catch up with you again. I promise - no Binna Burra hills!!

At least there was no broken bones and a new excuse to buy a D200.
