Christiand, only had a 70-200 VR since Christmas but can help on a few points. The Vr is great, really works. Also the AFS is lightning quick compared to my af lenses. Both of thos factors have allowed me to capture shots I wouldn't otherwise (not that many yet).

It is a little heavy with the lens on but not too bad. Yes I need a new bag. Yes people do think it is a lot for camera "stuff". I got my wife to buy me the lens. Have you seen Birddy's 200-400 VR? The 70-200 looks like the kit lens beside that! VR is worth having as a feature, if the price seems reasonable to you. It is not a necessity, but if buying a new lens, why not?

Ok, 70-200 VR. Have had it for 4 months. It allows me to hand hold when I used to rely on a tripod/monopod. I'm single so I decide what toys I'm allowed to have :) . My friends are quite impressed with it, esp when comparing it to their P&S.

Overall I love this lens and I bet all its owners feel the same. It has produced some good shots but no lens will ever make you a great photographer, but thats something I find hard to remember when checking out all the pretty lenses..

Christiand,

Resistance is illogical.

I agree with Gary. To buy mine off me second hand would cost you the same or more than the price of a new one.

I have the 70-200vr

The fact that it has the advantages of vr on top of being a 2.8 lens, and the sharpness and boke produced when wide open are some of the little extras about this lens that I love.

The rest has been said above - a definite buy as soon as possible. While the lens will never make the photographer .... a good one will help express their strenghts.  buy now   buy now

hehehe
