HMV with a DVD sale

I really couldn't find a good category to stick this in so I'm sticking it here.

Various HMV's are having a sale of stock the distributor didn't want back and some pretty good prices can be had.

I bought Ken Burns' Jazz for $18.97 which is pretty bloody good when you consider it normally costs around $100.

At the Pitt St. store, I noticed other deals like The Matrix Revolutions for $8.47 (not even worth that, but they had loads of copies), The bigger Lord Of The Rings films (the ones that look like books) for $25 and even the one with the Golem statue for $35, Blakes 7 for I think $14 or 15... various other things.

According to the DVD Plaza forums, it's happening at many of the HMV's but I've not yet heard if it's happening at the Sanity's or Virgin's, even though they're all connected.

Didn't seem like a bargain sort of thing.

Wow! That used to be one of my fav progs (when I was about the same age as Little Sheepie is now!). It was right up there with "The Tomorrow People" and "Logans Run" ;)

Actually, HMV are usually awful for DVD's.

Anyone in the HMV-Sanity-Virgin ownership are usually crap for DVD's.

Go looking at JB or on DVD Plaza's search engine if you want good DVD prices.

Some HMVs are good for RANGE (like the one on Pitt St Mall in Sydney), but generally have full RRP on them. Good if you want to get something obscure but couldn't be bothered ordering online.

Best pricewise (but range is limited to the more popular new releases and SOME older ones) is usually the big chains - K-Mart, Target, Big W. Next in line is JB Hi-Fi, who are pretty good price-wise, and usually top notch for range as well.
