Postby anubis on Thu May 25, 2006 8:53 pm

From none other than Bjorn Rorslett:

"An updated version of the D2X will be shown to the press on May 29, 2006".

You'd all better get in quick and buy a cheap D2x then before, oh, let's say middle of next year when the new model hits our shores :roll: :twisted:

Be interesting to see what improvements are offered in the new one.

Better High ISO performance is about all I can think of. And maybe better dynamic range?

I'm sure there is more.

Well, I'm pretty sure that they've said in the past that they can pull twice the amount of megapixels out of the current D2x sensor, and with a 22mp Canon on the horizon, perhaps the megapixels are about to be upped.

:shock: Really? That'd be a VERY small pixel pitch!

... And they'd want to have done some serious work on the increase that'd bring in noise as well.

I guess we'll find out in a few days :)

Paul,
Don't worry about it too much, enjoy your new D2x as you said it's more than what you needed and give it a good life in five years time.

D2Xs or D3 is just for some newbies, who would like to do the hardcore :lol:

From Bjorn re the D2Xs, after seeing them at the press conference:

"We have signed NDAs which will be in effect until 1 June, 2006, 0700 Norwegian time. The legal mumble-jumble of that NDA would cure any slip of the tongue."

here is the text:

Nikon D2x i ny versjon

http://www.fotografi.no/... ...php?RECORD_KEY%28forside%29=ID&ID(forside)=432

And here's the translation:
5/29/2006) Nikon has upgraded their best selling professional SLR, the D2x. The new camera will be launched this afternoon. We are following the press conference.

The new camera has received some new functions mainly intended to improve the work flow. The new camera will be presented to the trade media this afternoon. There are likely not radical changes as the new camera keeps the D2x name, but some improvements to benefit the professional Nikon-user.

Do we need all those?
Actually with the current model of D2x, I haven't used or played all the features or functions built in it, and I don't use them all or often, same as other D2x users.

And it's typical of the old stories as:

D70 -----> D70s or D2H ----> D2Hs

In the near future:
D200 ------> D200s

No, coz the D70 is its starting point for mid level or prosumer camera as with Nikon term and applied to the D100 or D200.

The Pro body start at D1/ D1H & D1X -------> D2H/ D2Hs then D2X -----> D2Xs.

It's the way how Nikon describes their production line and buying time till the D3 or whatsoever they will name and release next year or year after.

Keep in mind the D2H to the D2Hs. This was not just an update but a complete renovation, the only original component from the D2H was the sensor!!

Maybe, just maybe, the D2Xs will have parameters that will knock the D2X and, of course, the D2X will be discontinued 8)

Exciting of 20 new functions? not really! something you'll never touch or hardly look into or hate it forever.

Say something like these:

1/ Sex function? :lol:
2/ Sex phone chat?
3/ Who's the girl next door?
4/ Order glow in the dark CD?
5/ Printing money?
6/ Order pizza?
And more...... more.....
Still lot more but I can't remember all after few hours listening to the jerks

I heard that they're going to incorporate a cell phone.
I also heard that it's going to come with hovercraft. I'm holding out for the D3, as it's hovercraft will undoubtedly be smaller, and have lasers.

These ninjas. Can they make VR fixed 2.8 lenses come from the clouds? Do they carry them around in a fancy belt?

If Nikon would address some of these issues, they'd surely be a step ahead of Canon.
