Owen, I believe quite a few of us work in North Ryde including myself!
Keep us posted and maybe we can get together.
Where are you training at if you don't mind my asking?

Paul

Owen,
I live in the East, but maybe we could have a mini meet out that way?

I don't even know where the training is, my boss just asked me if I wanted to go and I said yes. We're doing some network training at Enterasys if that gives you any idea.
I'll update this thread when I know some more details.
Cheers,
Owen.

I thought Enterasys are in Chatswood...?
I work in North Ryde, too (same company as LostDingo).
Cheers
Steffen.

Owen,
There's a lot of businesses in the North Ryde area.
Give us more details as the time draws closer, and we can organise a dinner meet somewhere close to where you're staying.

Well, the training will be taking place at:
Hire Intelligence - Unit 14, 2 Eden Park Drive, North Ryde
It looks like we'll be staying in the area on sun/mon night, but don't know where yet.
Will update you all when I do find out.
Cheers,
Owen.

This will certainly be a challenge ...
I'm in a studio on Sunday from 3 till 7, and probably helpong a friend celebrate a birthday at Unity Hall afterwards.
Monday I have some more music happenning from around 8:30-9 ish ... if we can organise an early-ish dinner, this would be my preferred option.
But O know exactly where your training is happenning; I was in that exact complex just three weeks ago myself.

Really sorry about the vague-ness of it all guys, I really don't expect anyone to go out of their way or anything.
I'll have to take a look at what Tetsuya's is all about...

Thanks Birdy. I might take you up on that. I'll have to wait and see what the days have in store for me
Just had a look at Tetsuya's website...
Restaurant & Catering Industry Association Awards: Restaurant of the Year
Restaurant & Catering Industry Association Awards: Best Fine Dining Restaurant
Restaurant Magazine (London): The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2005 - No.4
Restaurant Magazine (London): Best Australasian Restaurant 2005
that's mighty impressive. judging by the this and the plate/food ratio (eg lots of white 'plate-space') I don't think our food allowance will cover it
By the way, are there any good photo ops around this area?

Unfortunately, that rotten joint you suggested is closed on Sundays and Mondays. Go figure. That way they'll never get anywhere...

MM North Ryde that stirred a few neurons.
64 Greene ave and 14 Martin street if I remember.
I left there in 1969 so my memory is a bit vague.
I guess it has changed a bit since then? It was considered an outer suburb of Sydney, we went on holiday to Mt Druitt to stay on a farm once
Usually we went to the sleepy little fishing village of Bundeena.

Tetsuya's closed on Mondays?
No worries. I'll call 'em up and arrange a special sitting.
Or perhaps 41?
Speaking seriously for a moment shut up, Gary I'm thinking Gladesville, Drummoyne, or maybe even Balmain, if we can extricate Owen from North Ryde.

Apparently one of the chefs from Tetsuya's has a not-so-expensive eatery across from my old Uni in Darlinghurst.

Okie dokie. I walked past a Malaysian restaurant today... does anyone know where that is? (No idea what it was called, it was at the end of a row of shops including KFC a newsagent, a thai restaurant etc).
I'll be staying not far from there at all.

Hmm, all that Tetsuya talk made me curious...
So I suppose it's a reasonable place to take the wife out to? I've got this little handful of cash to burn on a dinner for two, and am looking for suggestions. How much do you, my travelled gourmets, reckon they'd charge for that on average? I'm not stingy but if it gets to $500 per head (been there suffered that) I'd might look at alternatives first
I assume they've got atmosphere to match the food?
Cheers
Steffen.
(Mods, this may a good time to move this to Food&Drink?)

Steffen...all seriousness...Tetsuya's is very highly recommended...I had taken Ros there as a surprise and she still talks about it. Great food and extremely well done. If my memory serves correct it cost us around the $500 mark with wine????
It's a lifetime experience kinda of thing.....if you want feel free to ask me more questions or Ros...you can get our numbers

Yes, I have been there few times with my clients and they're superb in both food and wine, very comfy as an upmarket restaurant.
Don't hesitate to come back with few other friends.
Admins & Mods,
Why don't we book a AW dinner at Tetsuya, to mark our milestone in the second year

My guess is that this might have been on Lane Cove Road, just north of Epping Highway. Was there a Shell station in the immediate vicinity there?
