Unusual problem

I have a Nikon N80 which I'm considering selling, so I decided to put fresh batteries and give it a thorough workout. Everything still working 100%
It has a Nikon 35-105 lens on it. Then I thought I may as well bundle the tokina 28-70 with it so I tried that on and it wouldn't auto focus. I tried the lens on the D70 and it auto focuses ok. I tried every other lens I have on the N80 and they all work ok. What possible explanation could there be for this?
I would have thought that if there was going to be a compatibility problem, being an older lens, it would have been with the newer D70.
Any Ideas?

That is strange, D70 and F/N80 both have same CAM900 onboard....

What the CAM900 does?

The CAM900 does not solve the incompatibility issue with the lens mount and its contacts.

Philip, try cleaning the contacts on body and lens with a rubber eraser. After that I have no idea, Maybe tell tokina you want a free rechip for theses fancy new cameras

Glen, just tried that, still the same. Used some eclipse fluid on a cotton bud for the contacts as well. Some dirt came out of the lens contacts but none at all from the camera.

I agreed with Glen  Send it back to Tokina for re-chipping
