Hi there,

I've done a google search and a search of the Aus post website but I can't seem to find much info regarding postal insurance.

I'm putting my D70 up for sale on eBay and am looking for a ballpark figure on how much I should put down on postal insurance?

Is there anyone out there who can give me a rough % on the value of goods sent? Or is it more complicated than that?

If no one can give me an answer I'll obviously go down to the post office tomorrow and ask but I'd really like to get this done tonight if possible.

Whack in your postcode and then somethign for a major metrolpolitan area, select "Regular Parcel"-> Registered Post -> Additional Insurance -> Calculate. Should be around $15-$20, AP work on increments of $100

C.O.D offers free insurance for items valued up to $100 and additional insurance can be purchased for items valued between $100 and $5000.

I persoanlly think you would be best to contact 'Australia Post' for a quote or just offer 'Registered Mail' which will provide a 'Tracking Number' together with a signature from the buyer to confirm receipt. Once again get a quote from 'Australia Post'

I'd done the postage calculation before but didn't realise you could go further and choose insurance.

Where the insured value exceeds $100, a fee of $1.10 for every additional $100 or portion thereof, up to a maximum amount of $5000 insured value."
