Is multicoated/super hmc ones required? does standard cut it? Thoughts, comments? 5D | 16-35L | 35L | 85L | 135L | 70-200F2.8IS | 580EX

Kris,
The 82mm filter is quite expensive, the more larger diameter is the more money to pay, especially with good brand name of filters as B&W or Lee. When you're thinking or going to buy a lens, pls. do more research on filters, even if it's just the UV(0) and considering the filters to match with it. I tried to have all my filters to suit max. 77mm and with CPL adapted with few step down/ up rings to suit with the 72mm or 67mm. A hidden cost of owing a lens which you discovered after. Birddog114

Hi Birdy,
Definately, I was aware of filter costs but I guess I'll look at brands like Kenko's Pro Digital 1 WD instead of the Hoya which are simply too expensive. I think the CPL is an investment given it would offer more contrast and also offer protection to my primary walk about lense. What are your thoughts on Kenko branded filters? this one claims to be 1mm thick suited for DSLR's and is multicoated Thanks Kris 5D | 16-35L | 35L | 85L | 135L | 70-200F2.8IS | 580EX
