i have had my D50 since feburary
I have been to a minimeet @ Adelaide zoo (now a member of the zoo )
on ANZAC day & another day with fozzie & my wife
i have learnt alot just from those 2 meets & with great company too Daneil A & big v Tran etc
I have mainly shot in Ap mode
I have the D50 digital field guid & understanding exposure
It was while reading understanding exposure that the penny finaly dropped so to speak
Instead of letting the camera set the shutter speed as in Ap mode & using the exposure compensation button
I have my AE_AF button set to auto focus on.So i use this to focus the lens
it hit me to set the Appiture .Use the shutter dial to get a even/under/over exposure with shutter speed
Alot easier
Now i know this might not seem a great revilation but it has been to me
this 52 year old brain doesnt work like it use to if it really ever did lol
Now this is probably not the easiest explination or in workflow not the right sequence but it works for me lol old dogs can learn new tricks hahahahah

Well done!
I went straight into maunal mode when I got my D50.
Some times I use Apeture mode just to see what the camera "thinks"
then throw it back into manual mode.
use the little .....|..... graph thing in the camera to get the exposure.
Then u can up it or down the expoure if the highlights are too blown or the darker parks are too dark :)
Its not really that difficult to take a correctly exposed shot.
I think the art is in what you shoot and probably how good you are in PP.

Also when checkng your pic look at the different option.
Highlight and the graph. If the graph. If the curve is an upside down V more to the middle then the whole pic is more correctly exposed!!
