to the Socceroos to make the final 16.....eliminating Croatia in a nail biting game that I couldn't watch in the end. I had to resort to watering my cousin's garden :)

Making the final 16 is news.

The traffic jam in George St is not. :)

aaaargh, what little nails I had are now shredded.... great result, but a bit "colourful" towards the end there...!!

So, next is Italy - which won't be an easy game, either...

Right - bedtime for me, then. 'Night, all... :)

Italy isn't as good a they have been in 98 and 94. Same with Brazil, I was happy with the 2-0 loss as you'd expect a thrashing against the #1 team in football. I think the teams to look out for this WC are Spain, Portugal, Argentina and Italy.

Italy has only let 1 goal in this tournament, Aussies let in 5. They are renouned for their defence & will be a tough nut to crack.

HUH! I forgot about that! Well, they can go back and play their own "World" series while the rest of the planet enjoys the real stuff.
My God, do sporting events get any more tense than today's match? Any more of that and it'll be the end of me

I do realise that I have watched about 95% of the matches that have been played. Australia did have a pretty hard group though remember that. Look at the Italy Group though, they played the USA and even the Czechs didn't play as good as I thought they were going to.

Just back from 7 weeks in USA, there is absolutely zero interest in WC in most of the US, exceptions being parts of LA (and other pockets) which of course is heavily Mexicanised. TV ratings for the soccer were terrible, with Stanley Cup and NBA finals taking place.

Glad to be home in OZ.
