If you do see the movie, keep an eye out for all of the Nikon products on show. They seem to pop up every once in a while.

Wonder how much Nikon paid for the product placement ?

And also keep watch for a scene shot on good ol Narrabeen beach.

I took a few shots whilst they were filming there last year -

I thought the advertisement for the space-faring Virgin Airlines was nice as was the refresher that capes flap from the wind in space.

That said, the locations in Australia, specifically Sydney, that were used were done very well. I love the MCA and the Museum scenes.

Although, I have to say that the moment I saw the gold ring on the lens, I knew it was a Nikon...

Anyone who has seen either version of The Omen will know that the photographer and his photographs are fairly important to the plot.

In the recent remake (what a crap movie), the photographer was using Nikon (can't remember now exactly which camera, I think it was a D200, but the point is it was digital), and you never saw him using anything other than his digital Nikon. Yet, somehow, he still went home to his darkroom to develop his photos.

At some point in the film he makes an off-hand reference to having a film camera as well, but the camera bag he carries is only big enough for one camera, and in all the significant moments where he takes a photo he is using the digital.

I don't really have a point, except that this annoyed me greatly, and it seemed that Nikon's promotion was more important than plot consistency here.

Now I won't even mention that the father was carrying the stakes on his lap in a plane...

Maybe he was just plane for high stakes. :P

Wow, that just plain sucks, macka!

But I guess most people won't notice. Just us camera nerds. Same sort of thing as when I get annoyed watching people obviously miming badly onscreen when they are supposed to be playing a musical instrument.

Yep, I spotted the 80-400 VR pretty quickly... definitely more interesting than the plot!

But besides, they weren't stakes. They're supposed to be daggers.

These days, Jimmy Olsen uses better equipment.

Then again, apparently the story they've done with Superman Returns fits in between Superman II and III, so essentially, Jimmy Olsen goes from a Nikon to a Pentax.

Budget cuts perhaps - I hear News Corp are looking at doing something similar, but they are replacing their reporters with stock footage and file stories ;)

Not only Channel Nein, the other two boulevard stations aren't much better.

Cheers
