Hi there to all the members. I've already made a few posts but thought I should probably introduce myself properly.

My name is Rob Starr, I'm 29 and live in Pomona (20 mins from Noosa) on the Sunshine Coast. I've primarily been involved in Computer Graphics for a living for the last 10 years with the focus beeing 3D Computer Animation. My work has been a staple of TV Ads, Childrens Animation, Animation Pilots, PS2 and PSP (playstation portable) games. 3D software being my staple all the while (read 3DSMax, Maya, SoftimageXSI etc etc) I am a bit savvy at things like AfterEffects, Shake, most video editing apps and all that jazz.

All the while I've been into photography of course, hence I'm here. I've been shooting on Canon SLR's for a few years now, a really old Pentax before that (from Vinnies for $10 that first one cost me :)) and at present have a film based EOS 5.

I'm looking to upgrade to a digital and originally came here for advice, but am so sidetracked due to all the wicked threads that I forgot to even ask on this, my first day here!

If you're interested in a ringlight I just made, be sure to check this thread: http://dslrusers.net/viewtopic.php?t=18936 and if you have any questions regarding compositing, animation or editing I'll give it my best shot as I've been doing it for a while now. Be sure I'll be asking plenty o questions on photography! :)

Well, that's me. Hi all, and I look forward to hanging out here, I've really enjoyed my first day so far.

Rob

Welcome rob. I don't like fiddling with electrical stuff, but I'm sure others will appreciate your tutorial :)

Look forward to seeing some of your shots.

Cheers,
Owen.

The electrical bit is a piece of cake. It's the wood working that turns me off...
