Is there anyone on the site lucky enough to be going to the 3rd State of Origin either with or without camera? It will be a memorable night, seeing Qld defeat the Blues, Go Queenslander

I can't make the game... but as an Ex-Queenslander I'd have to agree with your last statement :)

Went to the second game in Brisbane and thoroughly enjoyed it.
After the pasting we got in the southern press it was sweet revenge.

A win on wednesday night will be good for the future of the concept of origin continuing.

Go the Mighty Maroons

Not if you value your life Gary

Imagine what Rel might do if she gets out of control

Just be a good lad and behave yourself!

Typical.... Queenslanders are all for promoting the game in Victoria but just a small technical question..

Q: How many State of Origin Games has QLD given up to further promote the game in any State?

A: None, Zip and Zero

Same commitment their forwards showed in Game 1 - 2006.

GO NSW...

If it was part of an overall strategy to broaden the game to other states I would go for it. But this random act now and again doesn't do anyone any good. What else are the admins doing as an overall strategy for the game to take a foothold in VIC?

...and yeah BTW go the Blues :D :D :D

I don't get it,
How can you promote a game between two waring states to a third state.
What are we going to do in the future Qld Vs NSW Vs Vic. in a round robin?
If you can't get public interest with the Melbourne Storm, how are you going to get a crowd for two out of town teams?

Oh, you'll get a crowd. The Mexicans will go to ANYTHING.

The problem is that after the event, you won't get any further support to the code because Victorians don't want to barrack for NSW or Queensland.

I have to say that these arbritrary decisions by administrators give me the irrits. It's the same with rugby - they schedule Bledisloe Cup Test Matches between Aus and Them (NZ  ) in Melbourne too.

They say that it is to promote the sport, but what it really does is alienate the real supporters of the game who are denied the chance to see the game they love.

There was a legal action up here some time back between life members and the Queensland Rugby Union about matches not being played at Ballymore, the traditional Qld home of rugby. The administrators wanted to move the matches to get more bums on seats, forgetting about the life-long supporters of the game who had kept it afloat in the 60s and 70s by buying life memberships. The life members were being forced to pay again for tickets after having bought life memberships.

You shouldn't bite the hand that feeds you.
