RIP SB600Sniff - I think my poor old SB600 finally bought it
Out in the field, shutter click, flash fired 3 - 4 seconds after the shot.... next shot, shutter click, again delayed flash .... then.... zip It thinks that it is still working (ie powers up, hit flash and the light goes out as though the flash fired), but 'thinks' doesn't help in the dark I'll wack it back into a container with dessicant (just in case - like last time), but I think I was lucky to pull it back from the brink when I drowned it in a storm...... I'll put it in for a triple bypass, but not sure if it will survive But.... Damian said I can order a SB800 from Birdy - the one good thing that has come out of the death of an old friend Rel Dodging and burning are steps to take care of mistakes God made in establishing tonal relationships! -Ansel Adams

It's a longshot but FWIW my SB600 has exhibited those symptoms when I was using a set of batteries that weren't up to the task due to one cell being bad. Would fire late then after a couple of shots not fire at all.
You've probably already tried it but a check with a different set of batteries can't hurt.
Rel,
I have been waiting for you to post this message after your little dunking a while ago. Have you ordered the 800 yet?? Steve

Rel, order the sb800, then if ur 600 comes back from the dead, you'll have 2 flashes!!
I hope it all works out for you.. Tim D70 - D200/MBD200 Coming soon - Too Much Gear, Not Enough Talent

Thanks guys .....
Steve - I suppose I was really lucky to keep it going as long as I did !! I had tried the batteries, put the flash back into a sealed container with silica beads again - and new batteries ... and zip Rang Anderson's, and he pretty much advised me not to bother sending it in, as replacing the electronics or the 'flash' part would be as much as a new flash - and it would have to be sent to Sydney for the repair. Edit - confirming order with Birddog (thank you Birdy) Hopefully, I'll be back taking shots soon (you are all probably hoping not ) Thanks for your replies guys - Bernie, Apsilon, Steve & Tim - this forum is really like extended family huh?
