I have some lenses that came in a prize that I got which I'd like to sell to buy something different (18-200VR). How much (AUS$) do you think these are worth?
- Nikkor 18-70G 3.5-4.5G IF ED from a kit
- Nikkor 70-300 4-5.6D ED
Both have never been used and have almost full 12 month Maxwell warranty (few days less). The 70-300 is in original packaging while the 18-70 came from the kit but still has everything else (cap, case, manual etc) just no box.

Given that the 70-300 goes for around $600 or more (from what I've seen today only) would just short of this be reasonable? Is your estimate on the kit lens based on a similar principle?

Its largely not based on AUS pricing since maxwell rips us off. There is no difference between a AUS, JPN, HK or USA lens. That lens can be picked up for $450 new from HK or USA. Hence a little over 50% for a second hand item sounds quite reasonable.

Use that as a starting guide & work from there.

Spaz, there are many kit lens available after people upgrade, recent selling prices are about $300.
The cheaper 70-300 was also included in many package deals, also there is not a huge difference between the two versions, but due to the abundant supply when people upgrade to a lens like the 70-200VR, prices are not strong on these. Also many buy it as a transitional lens while saving for something better. I think $300 or so would result in a quick sale, at close to $600 you may find someone who a)values the ED and b)never intends to upgrade, then again you may not.

ebay would be your best bet for top dollar.
if you won them, then there will be no loss if you sell them cheap.
start them at 1 dollar and you should get 50% of the value on the first day, then another 40% is the last 30 seconds 7 days later.

Thanks guys. That's around what I was expecting. I'm probably keeping the 18-70 anyway as it's just worth more to be as an every day lens than I can get for it.
