Ken Rockwell spent a large amount of time on this... worth a look

Compares the following lenses:
Zeiss-branded 50mm f/1.4 ZF, 2006.
Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 AF-D, 2005. It's made in China by Nikon.
Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 AF, circa 1986.
Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 AI, circa 1980.
Nikkor 18 - 200mm VR , 2005.
Micro-Nikkor 55mm f/2.8 AI-s, 1992.
Nikkor-S Auto 50mm f/1.4, 1969

after reading his reasoning on why a 3 megapixal camera is just as good a 6 i can't get myself to read anything else on the site.

Plus there are the times he reviews lenses without using them 10.5mm fisheye comes to mind.

I've got no time for this guy.

I think he mentioned the 18-55 to be best lens for digital SLR :lol: :lol:
