DPR RAnt - and a thank you

Postby atencati on Fri Jan 14, 2005 1:42 pm

I know we butter up Leigh & Gary with a lot of thank you's, but today I logged on to DPReview for the first time in a while. HS!!!! What a joke! I remember why I quit reading that forum; there is hardly anything worth readin anymore, and none of it seems constructive. Its about everybody one-upping another and trashing each others posts. There are entire threads that have absolutely nothing to do with the D70 in the D70 forum. Who moderates that place?

SO, i just wanted to say THANKS again to G & L for managing such a splendid forum that we can share our creativity and actuall leanr and grow.

Thank You! :D

I second the THANKS :D
I will not bash another forum after all a link there help me find this one :D
Not sure who the poster was :?: I think ONYX if so thank you very much ONYX if not thanks anyway for your great posts here :!:
It does seem that forum has a larger amount of political and Canon vs Nikon rants. It can be good for a laugh :(
I still think the site is great:!: There and Steves site were my Bible when desiding on the D70 or the dRebel and boy did I agonize :!: I have always used Canon both SLR and digital P&S.
I think the forum just got Hijacked by those that were more interested in a personal agenda then showing their work or asking for help. Those post are still there but seem to be lost in the rants.
It's sad because you still see post by Tyom Hogan, Uncle Frank. Personel from B&H, Phil and others who's opinion are highly regarded
They did help me make the right move so I do owe them my gratitude but my time in the forums is limited so I would rather spend it here :!:
So lets talk about gear and shooting and leave the rants behind :)

I think that DPR is OK if you sift out the crap - there are people as you have said like Uncle Rank and even iNova that post there and a lot of what they say makes sense.

I actually found out through DPR from Kramp that the Canon Angle Finder fitted the D70 so in that case it was very handy.

DPR is sometimes good for a laugh though! Check out the recent 'Flight Attendant Who Took My D70 Away' thread.  :( Seems some people have got nothing better to do with their time.

Makes you realise just how pleasant the air is around here. :D
