My ever sneaky girlfriend decided to surprise me for my birthday and get one of my old photos printed out on canvas.

I am amazed how good it looks! Its one of my photos from Guthega taken with my old canon G3 ... So 4 M pix scaled to larger than A3!

and to give an idea of the size ...

I'll try and find out where she had it printed later. :D

Dave - looks BRILLIANT !!!!

What a lovely gf you have :) Would definitely love to know where she got it printed... I don't s'pose we can get an idea of price though ..... that's something you probably shouldn't know ;)

I used to have the old G2 - they were definitely a good little camera !!!

That is a brilliant idea Dave. A friend of mine was asked by one of his friend to take a close-up picture of a particular tree with his new D200 and to his surprise transferred it to canvas , similar to what your girlfriend did, as according to him it turned out even better. Apart from this I really like the original and I think it's a fabulous photo regardless.

Thanks everyone!

It is one of my favorite shots, so she chose well :D

Turns out it was printed by brilliantprints, I'm sure I have seen them mentioned here before ....

the print is 16 x 24" but I'm not allowed to check the prices yet  :)

and just because, here is the original shot!

I'm actually headed to Guthega next weekend so maybe I will be lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time again ... this time with the D70.

Without discussing the prices  I was down at harvey norman yesterday and saw they did canvas prints there too. I don't know how the quality compares but their prices seem a little cheaper than the above place

I'll check that out a little later ... if they are cheaper I might have to get some more printed!

But I'd say that hardly norman's prints are not stretched.
