Guaranteed Next Day Delivery, yeah, right.
Posted in Sydney on 8th June, arrived in my mailbox in Hobart on 5th September.
I was sure that someone at Aus Post had ripped it off, but no, Aus Post was just a little slow.
And yes, it was addressed correctly and signed.

So when the satchel doesn't arrive the next day, week, month or season, don't give up, just wait a while.

Cheers
John

G'day Gary, yes I had the tracking number but it didn't help much. This was the old style of Express Post, not Platinum and AP can't tell you much about the non Platinum stuff. In fact this was the transaction that caused the change to Express Post Platinum, if you remember back to June. Both the sender and I had chased up AP who were able to track it as checked into the Belmore PO but it then disappeared iknto the bowels of AP. The sender lodged a formal complaint, but I don't think anything came back from AP and a replacement was sent to me shortly after. Now, today, 3 months later the original arrives!!!!! As soon as I found it in my letter box, I knew what it was and verified the tracking number matched an email that I had received in June.

Better late then never I suppose.

Cheers
John

That is a very bad experience!
Hopefully it won't happen again!

It wasn't something that you required urgently was it?

your very lucky, we send out about 20 a week, 1kg and 3kg bags and about 3-5 a week take 3-4 days and about 1 a month needs to be rang in and reported as not arriving.
They do eventually surface, and its normally the fault of a contractor, actually pretty much all the late stuff is contractor related.
We have complained till its just not worth it anymore because no one gives a shit, the contactor who delivers to our shop only comes past twice a week so holds onto stuff and brings it in when shes got enough in our area.

i'd say it couldn't get any worse, but then you have idiots like star track who seem to have a problem being able to deliver a parcel without running over it with a forklift or dropping it from a great height.

one industry where customer service is as common as priests saying the c word in church

I sent a 500g package to HK few months ago, took them 6.5 weeks to deliver there!

It wasnt delivered until I filled in the complaint form on missing package and claiming the insurance paid....

While very, very bad that's not uncommon. I work in a large mailing house (we send tens of millions of articles a year) and our experience is that Australia Post while good 90% of the time manage to make a monumental mess of the other 10%. Problem is they have lack of competition (or, in the case of standard letters, a monopoly) so they aren't really fussed about fixing things.

I think you've hit the nail on the head Peter. Privatise them, that's what I say. It always fixes things like that. Just look at Telstra....bad example :( Just look at Commonwealth Bank....bad example :( Just look at Qantas....bad example :(

Ring ring, hello this is John's stock broker what do you want to buy today John. What sell the lot, are you sure?
