QR plate

Quick questions,
- Do you leave the QR plate permanently on your camera ?
- Any way to minimize the scratches on the bits where the QR plate attach to the ballhead ? It's truly painful to see my new toy developing scratches so quickly
- Has anyone with a benro tried this "factory-reccomended-test" ?

The Benro QR plate is a little.. uh... pointy in certain areas.
