I just picked up a Maha MH-C801D Eight Cell 1-Hr Charger last week.

I have one as well. went researching batteries and chargers and ended up settling on one of these and their powerex batteries, been very impressed to date.

Does anyone know any charger at good performance for $40-50??

For those who need to charge batteries other than AA or AAA, you can buy the C808M which has the same features, but will charge C & D batteries as well.

Yes but your batteries will last a life time, or you go down a cheaper route and end up with batteries that don't hold their charge and paying for replacements.

I can't remember the model numbers...they charge 4xAA. Will have to get back to you with price. I will even through in some AA's too :wink:
