After using my flash (SB600) in remote mode, I layed it in my lap without turning it off.
Took a shot, and WHAM! My jeans began to SMOKE!
The flash burnt my jeans and now theres a very faint blue mark on the flash diffuser thing..
The flash and jeans both still work. Do you think I may have shortened the life of the flash?

How can it happened?

I had the flash on the camera in commander mode from the previous shots, and didn't close the flash on the d70. Leaving the sb-600 ON, it flashed when I took another shot.
Sorry, the topic title should be more like, "Flash, I stupidly fired it accidentally againt my pants". My mistake. But I'm really interested to know if I've just shortened the life of the sb-600?

No it won't cos it acts as the normal flash shooting, I've been down that road and now no more worrying later.

Are you sure it was only the jeans that were smoking at the time?
Possibly a little steam, but I doubt you've shortened the life of your flash, maybe taken a couple of weeks of the life of the jeans though...
Cheers
What's another word for "thesaurus"?

Thanks for the reassurance =p It's good to know that a couple hundred bucks hasn't gone down the drain.
And the crown jewels are doing just fine
What really worried me was the smoke.. I knew a flash gun was powerful, but to burn and almost make my jeans catch on fire (ok, maybe I'm exaggerating here). Didn't smell to good either.
