Oh the joys of not planning properly

This is my celebration and gripe post all in one :)

Firstly I received my birthday/christmas present to myself yesterday and have been studying the manual extremely hard trying to figure out what to tweak and how to tweak it to suit my needs. Oh the joys and headaches 12.2Mp creates

Joy because all my portrait pics turn out oh so sweet now. Disdain because Rawshooter Pro doesn't support the D2Xs and hacking the EXIF to recognise as a D2x only creates a white balance issue. Turns out Rawshooter gives me a white balance not as shot in camera :? I tried to run Capture NX but it runs like a dog and I have no money to get DxO. I could just upgrade the whole computer to run Lightroom, but alas still lack of funds...well not lack of funds, just have to save up otherwise I'll be a headless groom ;)

Another point I might add is that now I'm running out of hdd space...fast :) At 19 to 20Mb per pic I need a new hdd now :)

So the lesson I've learnt is if you plan on upgrading something, plan ahead and consider upgrading a whole heap of other things because you never know.

On the upside, the D2 feels so so sweet and demands respect :D

Sorry for the long post, just things I've learned very quickly over the past 24 hours :D

You'll have fun with your new toy. On the HD space issue - I suggest you shoot in compressed RAW which chops back to around the 10Mb mark per image. I can't tell the difference. YMMV.
