3000 is 40gb and the 5000 is 80gb
other than that i'm not sure on the differences, but going by price it may just be the hdd size.
pretty sure you will be able to find them cheaper than rrp

Epson have two new viewers, p-3000 rrp $960ex and the p-5000 $1140rrp ex
