Hey guys,

Well I am a bit of a Photoshop noob. Hadn't really done much in it prior to owning a D70..

A friend of mine has the Total Training for PS CS (which retails USD$300) which is a video based training. I must say, the first DVD isn't bad at all! He also has the Total Training Tips N Tricks which should be interesting as well.

Has anyone else used these products? Here's a link for the lazy

dimmo and Ray -I have been using PS since its inception and I learn something new every day.

My ex-wife (a designer) paid a fortune for training and she had to admit to me in the end that hands on use is the way to go.

Spend some time each day on a particular aspect of PS using a really good book on the subject and you will pick up in no time.

I have recommended the Peachpit Press book on this forum and for around $40 it will pay for itself in no time.

The other thing is to keep an eye on this forum and the web in general to pick up tips and tricks.

I have been using photoshop for about 15 years and believe the best way is to try something new everytime to start it up.

I learnt heaps doing it that way

I have been using PS for about 10 years now and I agree, you can never become proficient in the entire program. Not even the developers would be able to.. However, you can define your style and become proficient in that.

Additionally, I have an E-Book, 7 day adobe photoshop tutorial course in html format if anyone would like it I will make it available.

I've been learning PS since version 5 and, while I don't bother reading PS books (other programs, yes), I do find that learning PS comes best through experimenting with it.

It's great video instruction course IMO - I'll let you know more after the 7th DVD

Obviously, they provide all the files that they work on in the video, so I actually 'do' photoshop as it goes along (pause the video, I open the picture that they're editing, and use the techniques that they are using etc) .. - so I am learning by doing!

Per requests, I've uploaded the tutorial to my website. Remember, I DIDN"T WRITE IT!!!!! It is an Html format tutorial, just open the folder and double click the index file. Then follow the arrows...easy as that. It is zipped, 30 MB, I downloaded it in 2 minutes at work. Just click the link to start the download.

no, i just finished d/l it and it seem to pass all my anti-virus scans

I’ve been in PS for about 5 years my self.
But I have found that any thing you can get hold of about the pro, there’s always something you will pick up on.
But yes hands on is the best way to find out all the hidden things that this pro has to offer.

Virus scanner doesn't like it as it has .zip.exe

Just take the .exe off (by renaming the file) and open it as a .zip file.

I fixed it now, didn't realize that would cause a problem...
