Does anyone else get that feeling.....

...(as a hobbyist) that you feel that you have lost your imagination with respect to taking shots? (I know there have been similar topics before, but this is me talking). I know the general rule is to just grab the camera and just shoot. But lately, the only thing I have felt confident about taking photos of is my cricket teammates (go Cammeray B2's) batting.

When I see the photos posted on this site, I have gone from being inspired to being jealous (meaning a general thought of "I can't take shots as good as that, so why bother?").

I don't know if it is because my wife and I are preoccupied with planning for our first, work being really busy or just laziness, but I feel like I can't execute some of the photo ideas I have and therefore think I can't be bothered.

Is this just a phase or laziness?

Happy to receive the e-slap-in-the-face-"snap-out-of-it".

Sorry for the self-pitying rant....

*snap*slap*snap*snap*....

Stop being lazy, get your bum up from the sit and start shooting again.

I can't take shots as good as that, so why bother?

If you havent even tried, how do you know you can't?? If you're still in doubt in how to take that pic and all involved, you simply raise your hand and Im sure plenty here will listen and answer your question!!

Now wipe that thought out of your mind and inspire yourself for some more photos!!

Ouch...not that e-hard....

Thanks Yi-P....hopefully tomorrow at cricket, my captain's wife will come along with their new baby, and I can play around with taking some nice portraits.

I guess I wanted to find out if anyone else has gone through that "it's too much effort" phase, bearing in mind I have been taking about 150 shots each weekend at cricket.

It’s just a phase - I have gone through the same experience many times. I am still taking pics over 50 years later

Patrick, just a phase..

On a lighter note - congratulations "Dad"!!! :) Fantastic news!!

You will surely get inspiration to take some tasteful pregnancy progress photos and then on the birth of your first child. If that's not incentive enough and you still feel a little 'stale' - give all your camera gear to me :)

Thanks guys - it does mean a lot (only on this site would I post a 'group hug' request post like this).

I plan to take some well lit, progressive photos of the 'belly' growing, in a very tastefull way.

I guess I just have to get the feel back in my hands of the body/lens and just start walkin' and shootin' and get off my fat a#$e.

Geoff, even for the sake of a camera, you could never stoop so low to pretend to be a member of council  Unless of course you start taking bribes from property developers?

You are so right Bernie - a lot of my shots are just common household objects seen in a new light :)
