Well my beloved D70 is going to go to greener pastures, its taken prob 5 shots since the arrival of the my D200.
Only prob is the sitting ideal on the shelf seems to have aided in dust bunny collection and a quick shot to get an exact shutter count scared the hell outta me as the little suckers seem to have been having a fricking orgy in there.

So, for this free sensor clean do i need do anything other than find an authorised nikon service agent in WA or does my camera have to go interstate?

Do they ever do free sensor cleaning? The fastest and best way to clean it is find someone here on DSLRU in WA that knows how to do it, meet up and let him/her show you how to clean it then go on the DIY sessions.

Cleaning the sensor is no orgy thingy... most like sex, will scare you for first time, the more you do, the more smoother it goes... :lol:

Just set the shutter on bulb, sans-lens and blow into the mount. Heck, you're getting rid of it right?! Make the condensation and spit someone else's problem...

but I don't think that'll be very good.

How about using a bulb blower and slowly slowly blowing onto the sensor while having the camera facing down?

As far as I'm aware they used to offer a free sensor clean withing the first 12 months (ie the normal warranty period), after that you pay for any you need or DIY.
