Snapped my lens hood today - where do I get a replacement?Hi,
I snapped the lenshood on my 18-70 today (Camera and lens are fine) . Can anyone suggest where I can get a replacment HB-32 easily? My experience with camera stores in Melbourne with stuff like this is that they are slow. Any advice you can give would be much appreciated. Cheers, Bruce
Vanbar's.
Or maybe you could make a makeshift one out of cardboard to tide you over until your new one arrives. I did this with a telescope filter holder and it was so good that i still use it now. (Use good quality cardboard) Steve.

My HB32 hood got loose and fell off down an ancient Mayan well in Guatemala about 2 weeks ago.
Don't laugh...this is serious. Anyway I bought one in San Francisco for $US29. I found when working fast, the way the HB32 attaches is not 'well' designed at all. In fact the more you fit/remove it, the looser it becomes....watch out. To get one in Sydney, I'd say you have to order it through a store. HNY guys. No matter how long he looks at the menu, he always orders the mustard prawns.
Sorry Allan but I have to ask - what was there of interest down an ancient Mayan well that you wanted to photograph?

Chris, I should have explained it better, I was using the ancient surrounding stonework as an ancient tripod.
I sent some ancient oaths after it as I heard the 32 clatter down the sides to the bottom. It wasn't far down as it turned out, but wife Kim and the guide vetoed me going in after it. No matter how long he looks at the menu, he always orders the mustard prawns.
Just think - in a couple of milleniums an archeologist will find Mayan treasure in a well and a Nikon lens hood

gaffa tape ?Hi,
can we see a photo of that lens hood ? There is almost nothing that good old gaffa tape can't fix. Also superglue isn't bad either. Cheers CD
Re: gaffa tape ?
christiand - it’s at the bottom of a Mayan well!!! Chris Chris

endymion's lens hoodAllan's lens hood is of course too far away and will eventually make history when archeologists will discover it one day.
What about endymion's lense hood ? Cheers CD

Anyone know where I can get a Nikon HB-29 hood for a 70-200VR?
I had an unfortunate accident at the superbikes last Saturday and my hood is now toast At least the lens survived! Nikon/Maxwell are asking $95.00 Vanbar want $81.65 B&H are U$29.95 plus U$26.25 which is about A$75 Adorama are out of stock but have the same price as B&H I'll proberly order from B&H and add some pieces to the order to justify the shipping cost, just wondering if anyone or if Poon has a cheaper supplier. Nikon F80D, FM2n
RRS BH-55, 055XPROB Smugmug
Yeah I would get in contact with Gary & Poon about this, he might be able to grab you one for about B&H price probably.
Btw, how did the hood got toasted??
